Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union Invests $150,000 in Foundry to Expand Youth Employment Opportunities Across B.C.

Investment includes $50,000 to support Foundry programming on the Sunshine Coast

VANCOUVER, B.C. (Aug 12th, 2026) —Sunshine Coast Financial, Coast Capital and Prospera, part of Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union’s family of brands and Canada's largest national purpose-driven credit union, has announced a $150,000 donation to Foundry. The contribution marks the credit union's first major community investment since the organization came together in May 2026.

Drawing on the newly combined credit union's strength and scale, the donation was made possible through strong member participation in a limited-time Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) offer featuring a competitive rate and a $100 donation to Foundry for every GIC account opened.

The offer, created to thank members of Sunshine Coast Financial, Coast Capital and Prospera for their support during the recent merger and their continued trust, generated $150,000 for Foundry's Work & Education Program. The investment will support Foundry Work & Education Program delivery across communities served by the three brands, including $50,000 dedicated to Foundry Sunshine Coast.

"Our roots run deep on the Sunshine Coast," said Jodi Fichtner, Sunshine Coast Financial. "Our members supported this merger because they saw the opportunity to do more for our members, employees and communities. This investment is a powerful example of how our collective strength as Canada's largest national purpose-driven credit union translates into meaningful local impact."

Sunshine Coast Community Services Society is the lead agency for Foundry Sunshine Coast, bringing together community partners to establish an integrated youth service centre for young people ages 12 to 24.

"This collaboration of partners reflects a shared commitment to the well-being and future success of young people on the Sunshine Coast," said Catherine Leach, executive director of Sunshine Coast Community Services Society. "Foundry Sunshine Coast will be a transformative addition to our community, creating a lasting resource where youth and young adults can access the health and wellness services they need to thrive."

The investment comes at a critical time, as young people continue to face significant barriers to workforce participation and economic stability.

"On behalf of Foundry, I want to thank Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union for investing in young people across BC," said Dr. Steve Mathias, co-executive director of Foundry. "This support for Foundry’s Work & Education Program will help more young people overcome barriers and access personalized support as they pursue employment, education and training opportunities. Together, we’re helping youth build confidence, develop skills and take meaningful steps toward their goals and brighter futures."
